I decided I would assign a commonly used word to each letter key on my keyboard. I am still working on this so will add more later. This is what I have so far.
Q = question
W = With
E = Examination
R = Are
T = The
Y = Any
U = You
O = Of
P = procedure
D = And
F = For
G = Good
K = Knee
B = Be
N = In
This is a work in progress so I will add more later as I get a chance. I am also thinking that I could double and triple the letters for other words also. This could save a few key strokes anyway.

Medical Transcription - Free Online Phrase/Word Counter For Creating Phrase Expanders
I just stumbled onto this really cool helpful tool today. It is a free online thingy that you can copy and paste a collection of reports and it will show you phrases that are repeated throughout the reports so that you can create shortcuts for those phrase and get more productive with your typing. It is really handy.
I have Instant Text so I have been copying the results of what the phrase counter gives me and then pasting them into notepad. Then I save it as a ".txt" file. Go to your "importer" in Instant Text, click on the "importing" tab, then click on the "text file" button. Now all you have to do is find your .txt file with your phrases click on it, then click open, and save it as a ".glo" glossary file for Instant Text. Here is the last step...just include this file in your glossary that you use for work and when you get that dictator again you will have kinds of phrases for him or her. I have noticed a big difference in what is showing up in my Instant Text now.
For other expander user you could get your list of repeated phrases from this "phrase counter" and copy it to your work processor and start creating shortcuts. You will be surprise at what you are missing and saying to yourself "Why didn't I add this sooner."
Have fun with this. Here is the link: http://www.writewords.org.uk/phrase_count.asp
